Dirty talk should not be publicized
Have we gone crazy? Two men saying disgusting things to each other, supposedly in private, or major networks broadcasting the conversation to every home in the country with television.
Which is the more reprehensible? Seems obvious to me.

Trump is the right answer at this time
One only need look at recorded history in Scripture to see how God uses imperfect leaders to fulfill his purposes. Consider King Nebuchadnezzar as an example of a secular ruler whom God raised up to do his will. God calls him “My servant” in Jeremiah 25:9.
Since both presidential candidates have records of corrupt behavior, when deciding whom to vote for, the question I have asked myself is who is God’s agent for this time in history?
For me the answer is Donald Trump.

SROs not the only solution
I read the TFP’s front-page article where we as a community are actually celebrating a $750,000 federal grant enabling us to add six SROs to our schools, bringing the total now to 32 SROs assigned to Hamilton County schools.
First of all, let’s be clear. An SRO is a euphemism for a police officer.
Secondly, the fact we need 32, or perhaps more, police officers to maintain discipline in our primary and secondary schools signifies an abject failure in our educational system and an undeniable manifestation of the decline in our societal values.
As an aside, I had an SRO in my elementary/middle school. We called her Mother Superior. Mother Superior took no prisoners. There was only one thing worse than a visit to Mother Superior. It was taking a note home to your parents from Mother Superior describing some breach of your decorum in school.
End of problem… and it didn’t cost millions… and I turned out just fine.

Rethink bike lanes on busy roadways
I am writing to urge Chattanooga to immediately cancel plans to install bike lanes on Martin Luther King Boulevard and Bailey Avenue.
Some 10 years ago, McCallie Avenue was one-way west and M.L.King/Bailey was one-way east from downtown to the Brainerd tunnel. The city chose to change these to two-way streets, and it worked fine.
This greatly increased traffic along M.L. King, especially at rush hour. If the road becomes two-lane, there is no good alternate route for traffic at those busy times.
M.L. King is becoming much more attractive, with new businesses, nice sidewalk landscaping and plenty of parking. But we still need four lanes for traffic, especially during rush hour.
I would urge the city to just keep it simple. Install the bike lanes on 10th Street, where there is no traffic conflict. And place well-marked pedestrian crosswalks every block or so on MLK.
I will not vote for the re-election of any city official who condones the narrowing of a busy commuter street for little-used bike lanes.
Sorry, Mayor Berke. You’re doing a great job otherwise.
