The time is nigh to trade in patio dining for indoor seating.
Not because of the weather, mind you – we’ve likely got a good month or more left of shorts season – but because, how else will you watch the big game?
“Everybody at Mellow Mushroom really loves football season, and we’ve really become super fans this year with the Mellow Pick ‘Em Challenge,” said LJ Knight, Mellow’s director of operations.
Here is how you, too, can take your fandom to the next level: First, visit mellowpickem.com to register. Second, submit your weekly picks for each of the featured college football matchups. Then, tune in.
Those that pick wisely stand to win some substantial prizes. For example, each week, the first-place finisher will receive a $100 gift card to Mellow. Ultimately, one lucky first-place finisher will win a whopping package that features a trip for two to a college football game of his or her choice, including airfare, hotel stay and $1,000 Stub Hub gift card – not to mention the opportunity to win $10,000 cash.
In addition to the chance for big money, Mellow is also now serving chicken wing specials. Every Saturday, both locations offer 50-cent wings. And if you can’t decide between wings or pizza? LJ recommends the Buffalo chicken pie, topped with Buffalo chicken, caramelized onions, mozzarella, Applewood smoked bacon and a swirl of Buffalo sauce.
Then, on Sundays, Mellow boasts Sweetwater IPA, Bud Light and Yuengling drafts for $1.
After all, beer is also a big deal at Mellow, said LJ.
“We have 40 different beers on tap downtown and 64 at Hamilton Place,” LJ said.
With such a selection, it can be difficult to stay abreast of all the new brew. Rather, it was difficult.
“Now, every time we tap a new keg of beer it will be instantly added to our beer menu on ‘Untappd,'” LJ said.
Untappd is a free app that lets you see what kind of craft brews nearby restaurants are currently pouring.
Between its games, its specials and its bevy of brews, Mellow has the substance to sustain your football season. And soon, its Hamilton Place location will launch online ordering, making its pies, calzones, hoagies, burgers and more available for delivery – which is perfect, LJ is quick to point out, for tailgating parties, fantasy football gatherings or “even a family night at home when you’d don’t want to load everyone in the car.”
