The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s basketball team has had recent success with guards from Ridgeway High School in Memphis.
With two heading out the door, the Mocs soon will bring another one in.
Jalen Crutcher, a 6-foot-3 point guard, made his nonbinding pledge to the Mocs on Wednesday evening, becoming the program’s fifth commitment for the 2017 signing class.
“First off I want to thank God for everything he has done for me and I want to thank all the coaches that have recruited me but I will be committing to The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga #ReptheC #GoMocs,” Crutcher tweeted Wednesday evening.
A three-star prospect according to Rivals.com, he had scholarship offers from Massachusetts and Murray State, among others.
Crutcher plays for the alma mater of current Mocs guards Johnathan Burroughs-Cook and Greg Pryor, who are entering their senior seasons. Crutcher joins high school senior guard Terry Nolan Jr. and junior-college transfer wing Eric Turner as players incoming next season.
Wing Andrew Fleming, a transfer from Iowa, and forward Makinde London, who played last season at Xavier, already are on campus and will be eligible for the 2017-18 season.
