Touting real fur a fashion ‘don’t’

Jeers to the Times Free Press for printing an article touting real fur as fashionable! If fur is popular again, then we humans need a refreshment course on the reality of obtaining the skin from a live animal. I will not go into the mechanics, but a huge amount of suffering is required. Please do not be a party to fashion outlets that tell the public that fur-wearing is acceptable. Cruelty is not stylish!

Yard sign thieves: Glad you’re with us

To those who are taking our yard signs: We are delighted that you too wish to show your support for Hillary Clinton for president. Since we would like to keep our signs in our yard, if you will bring them back, we’ll gladly give you some shiny new ones for your own yard – and more for your many friends who surely are also Clinton-Kaine fans. Heck, bumper stickers and lapel pins, too, because every dollar we spend goes toward Hillary’s campaign.

Remind everyone that entering private property without permission constitutes trespassing, trampling a garden is willful destruction of property, and taking others’ possessions is theft. Oh, and don’t forget to vote. We all know Hillary will win the election, and you will want to be part of making that happen.

Consumer loser with internet tax

In reference to the commentary by Roland Myers, president and CEO of the Tennessee Retailers Association:

I understand why businesses would applaud the online sales tax proposal. They claim it’s only “fair” that online sellers should collect the same sales tax they do. As usual, when someone makes the claim that something is unfair, it means it doesn’t benefit them. The fact that this law would increase their sales and profits has nothing to do with it; it’s just “fair.”

Of course, the government is all for it since it gives them additional money to spend (read: buy votes).

The only loser is the consumer, who will see competition decrease, no doubt leading to a rise of prices on top of the almost 10 percent increase due to the tax.

And as for those sellers who claim the reason for the tax is to support local economies, I assume everything they sell is made in the USA or else they are hypocrites of the first order.

I also found it surprising an article advocating additional taxes would be on the Free Press page.

Trump sealed his fate as a loser

After watching the presidential debate Monday night, I guess we can put to rest the possibility of Trump being the presidential type. He never had my vote anyway because I will not vote for a person that refused to serve our country.

Now after his dismal performance at the debate, it will be hard to find anyone who will take a chance on this candidate. I cringe to think of this guy meeting with other world leaders as our president.

As for lies, Trump makes Hillary look like a Sunday school teacher.
