On Friday, April 7, more than 30 farmers, artists and other vendors will descend upon Cambridge Square in Ooltewah for the opening of the second season of the Square’s night market, which is returning with new hours.

Following a successful opening year, the Cambridge branch of the Chattanooga Market will continue to feature weekly music as it did last year, said Chattanooga Market Operations Manager Steve Brehm. But this year, the market will run from 6-9 p.m. as opposed to last year’s 5-8 p.m.

“I think [the time change] will be a big factor in attracting more people,” Cambridge Square Marketing Director Jim Cheney said. “Last year being our first, there will probably be some logistical changes [this year] but it will probably not be too different from what people have encountered in the past.”

The market provides an opportunity for the burgeoning community to come together, something which is integral to positive growth, Cheney said.

And, as phase one of infrastructure for the housing component is finished and as they prepare to break ground on single and multi-story homes ranging from approximately 2,000 to more than 5,000 square feet, the market will only grow, he added.

“I think the [farmers] market is a great addition to the community,” he said. “It’s consistent in its schedule, it brings local talent to the forefront, it’s simple to navigate and all it requires is to show up and walk around. It also brings people together on a regular basis, which is the bedrock of a growing community such as Ooltewah.”

For the market’s first month, live music will include: Megan Saunders, April 7; Sabrina Murdaugh, April 14; Heidi Holton, April 21; and Von Wamps, April 28.
