GOP ‘punching bag’ might have a point
In defense of Susan Rice, the favorite punching bag of the Republican Benghazi Inquisition, it’s never a crime to uncover a crime, regardless of the reason, especially if the crime in question happens to be treason.

Loss of common sense will hurt
I have seen real squabbles, name-calling and deadly fights by observing birds. Anatomically speaking, some look alike, some look different and they all fight. If mankind descended from the animal kingdom, as science advocates we did from apes, then should it be natural not to like or agree with others of our own species, being that species classifications are different?
Different monkeys just don’t seem to like certain other monkeys. Even apes agree on this one and confirm it by their behavior toward one another in nature.
People are classified as “homo sapiens,” yet have different characteristics. So, I ask as conservatives, why are we not allowed the same verbiage with all the expressionism and scream that liberals get? If decent beliefs incriminate, use liberal science as a defense by saying, “Your classification has not evolved at the same pace as others in your species!”
A higher education is important, yet I can’t deceive my conscience into thinking I can crawl low enough through some liberal professors’ sewer to get one. Students are rendered ignorant when professors banish “common sense” from American curriculum.

Do mature trees on 8th need to go?
It breaks my heart to hear the city fathers are going to eliminate the trees along Eighth Street between Pine and Carter that are well established and beautiful in the summer. They give shade to pedestrians in the summer; now that entire area is a new streetscape. It will take years for new plantings to develop.
The current way of thinking about pedestrian areas includes green spaces and lots and lots of trees to lessen the effect of the concrete “jungle.”
Those of us who work downtown appreciate the beauty of the canopy. Why can’t they remain?

Racists, roads and eyesores, oh my
Now that milk has been declared racist, I suppose the snowflakes on a lot of college campuses and anything white like sugar, salt, copy paper and many other things are also.
I notice Robert B. Reich and a lot of Democrats and liberals must not have learned much history, especially government. They all like to call our country a democracy instead of a republic.
I drive often in North Georgia on nicely paved roads. Why is it that Tennessee, the city of Chattanooga and Hamilton County cannot do something about our worst roads? One of the worst is Davidson Road. It is falling apart and way too narrow for the amount of traffic it has. I have lived here 16-plus years, and nothing has been done about it. New houses and subdivisions continue to be built; where is the tax money going? A lot of fancy landscaped sidewalks and bike lanes seem to be built, but who is paying gas taxes?
Lastly, what about code enforcement on businesses that are eyesores and look like garbage dumps!
