Fleischmann urged to work with Dems
To U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann:
I hope you read the column, “We are Indivisible Tennessee” last Tuesday on The Chattanooga Times editorial page.
This piece was signed by 23 Indivisible groups across Tennessee, of which seven are in your district. Let me pass something along to you that you may not be aware of: We are not happy with your performance as our representative in Washington.
During your time in office you have done nothing of consequence for your constituents, written or sponsored no meaningful legislation that in any way benefits your district, nor have you made yourself available to hear our concerns.
However, there is a ray of hope. With Humana pulling out of the Tennessee ACA market, there is a large swath of Eastern Tennessee where many folks are going to find themselves without health insurance. Coincidentally, most of these fine people live in the Third District. And I expect that most them voted for you last year. So here is your chance to do something beneficial. Come out of your bunker, do the research, work with Democrats and find a way to get affordable health coverage for your neighbors who will be struggling mightily otherwise next year.
Your constituents will be watching.

Don’t overlook value of adopting older dogs
I wanted to thank the paper for including a story about shelter pets in the recent edition of North Hamilton Community News. “Animal shelter pairs pups with runners for exercise, playtime” focuses on an underprivileged population that most people forget about.
Don’t get me wrong; I am all for the Community Kitchen, Toys for Tots and money for a new Children’s Hospital. But homeless animals have no control over what happens to them, and many shelters are overwhelmed and don’t get enough support.
This seems like a good reminder that puppies find families quickly, but adult dogs, both young and old, have a much harder time finding permanent placement. I am the happy owner of a dog I adopted as a 3-year-old from the amazing Humane Educational Society of Chattanooga after he waited two years for someone to adopt him. He is now 8 and still is the coolest dog I’ve ever met or owned.
Thanks again for the article promoting dog rescue. I hope, as people are donating to and volunteering with all the human causes out there, that they remember our furry friends.

Fox News is our only reliable source of news
Most TV news stations are liberal and Democrats. Each time the president gets things going they undermine and go against him. The public shouldn’t buy any products advertised on these stations. The only news station that reports the truth is Fox News. We should be supporting our president.
