Alternatives exist to building a wall
A United States-Mexico border wall won’t solve the illegal immigration problem. If they don’t tunnel under the wall, immigrants will use boats to enter along the thousands of miles of coastline on either side of this border or come in as tourists and not leave.
Such measures might be more expensive than going directly across the border, but the immigrants will come if they are given the desired jobs and services. To reduce illegal immigration, pass and enforce laws that prevent anyone without proper documentation from getting a job, enrolling in school, buying or renting houses or cars, getting driver licenses, etc. Allow 4-5 years for those wanting to stay to get appropriate documentation and then enforce these laws by closing businesses hiring illegals and fining or firing anyone providing them services.
This will take additional measures by immigration services until current illegal immigrants are appropriately vetted and documented but will be cheaper and more effective than building a wall. I am not against immigrants entering this country, or most of those here staying, but they should do so properly, and employers and other organizations should not be able to take advantage of them.

Trump masters egg hunt whistle
I was starting to get disappointed in Donald Trump to this point, but a couple of things have happened in just the last couple of days that could make me change my mind.
So far the only thing he has accomplished is provide hot air in Washington (when he is there), but it is not needed now during warmer weather. If we get lucky, he will simply just play golf and not open his mouth.
Well, he has finally gotten something accomplished, and I will be the first to give him credit. After all, a person should get credit when it is due. He not only hosted but blew the whistle to start the annual White House Easter Egg Roll, and by all accounts was very successful. And he hosted the Super Bowl champs. Keep up the good work, Mr. Prez.

Finish bathrooms at East Hamilton
In the April 20 edition, it was stated the county would pay for East Ridge football field restrooms. I would like to know why the county has done nothing to build restrooms at East Hamilton High School. We have been to ball games the last two to three years and had to walk about 300 yards to a portable toilet, and that is rough on old and handicap people.
I talked to a lady who said the county is holding up the project. County, please do something about it.
