A man and his wife were killed in a fiery weekend crash in Coweta County, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The crash happened about 9 p.m. Saturday when a driver ran a red light and slammed into Thomas Scott Mayo, 57, and his wife, Pamela Mayo, 58, as they were turning into the NCG Cinemas in Sharpsburg, the GSP told Channel 2 Action News.

It was unclear early Tuesday morning if the driver, who the GSP identified as 28-year-old Andrew John Wiemann, had been charged in connection with the deadly accident.

Timberli Williams was working at the theater at the time of the crash on Ga. 54 and Ga. 34, Channel 2 reported.

“I was able to see all the smoke and the fire,” she said.

Williams and her father, Timothy Williams, nearly died at the same intersection three years ago, according to the news station.

They warned officials then to change the speed limit in the area from 55 to 45 mph and to add a turn signal for the movie theater, Channel 2 reported.

The Georgia Department of Transportation told Channel 2 it is getting a tally on the number of accidents at the intersection.
