A man who allegedly shot a woman last year was charged with kidnapping and threatening her at gunpoint over the weekend.
Back in October, police found a woman on the 12000 block of Old Dayton Pike who had been shot through the arm into her chest. She was wearing no pants, shoes or underwear, according to court documents.
She told police and family that John Richard Jones, 74, was the shooter.
An officer went to Jones’ home on the 9800 block of Dallas Hollow Road and saw a silver and black Chevrolet truck there with its brake lights on. The officer already was familiar with Jones and the truck.
As Jones was getting out of the truck, the officer got out, walked up to him and asked him to step to the truck’s rear before placing him in handcuffs.
When the officer opened the door to look for other possible suspects or victims inside the truck, he saw a pair of women’s underwear, a ball of hair, a flip-flop and what appeared to be blood drops. A purse also was found in the truck bed.
Jones asked the officer, “Did you see my truck where the stupid — wrecked my truck?”
The officer asked him what he was talking about and Jones said he and the victim were riding across the lake when she jerked the steering wheel, running the truck into a wall.
Police again responded to the 9800 block of Dallas Hollow Road early in the morning on Saturday and spoke to the same woman who said Jones came to her home with a firearm.
She said he took her back to his home and hit her in the face with the weapon. She also said he was drinking vodka and told her he would “get her” and everyone who had snitched on him.
She was able to call 911 when he passed out on a bed.
Police noted the victim had a cut and marks under her right eye and a busted lip on the left side. Jones also had a handgun in his possession at the time of arrest.
Jones now faces charges of aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping and coercion of a witness in addition to the domestic assault and attempted murder charges that are pending.
He has been charged in Hamilton County with assault several times before, records show.
