For baby boomers, watching 1964 the Tribute is deja vu. For millennials, it’s a glimpse into the music history of their parents’ past.

The Beatles tribute band, 1964 the Tribute, was formed in 1984 to accurately re-create the 1964 Beatles invasion of America. The tribute band plays a set of early Beatles music, occasionally with some middle Beatles thrown in.

Their British invasion of Chattanooga will take place Friday, Aug. 11, at the Tivoli Theatre, 709 Broad St. Doors open at 7 p.m., the concert starts at 8.

The concept “is performing a show that gives you an idea of what it was like to see the Beatles when they were touring,” says Mark Benson (John Lennon).

“It’s definitely a music gig, but there’s an acting element to it,” says Tom Work (George Harrison). “You need to adopt the body language, the speaking voice.”

Rounding out the Fab Four are Mac Ruffing as Paul McCartney and Robert Potter as Ringo Starr.

More than 20 years of research and performing has made 1964 masters of their craft. They are hailed by critics and fans alike. Rolling Stone magazine named 1964 the “Best Beatles Tribute on Earth.”

Tickets are $37 and $27 plus fees. For more information: 423-757-5580.
