KNOXVILLE – Tennessee released its first depth chart of the 2017 season on Wednesday with quarterbacks Quinten Dormady and Jarrett Guarantano listed as co-starters.
The Volunteers open the season on Monday against Georgia Tech at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Chattanooga native Colton Jumper is listed as Tennessee’s starting middle linebacker following an injury to projected starter Darrin Kirkland Jr. in a recent practice.
Other notable personnel notes include: freshman Trey Smith listed as the starting right guard, senior Todd Kelly Jr. and sophomore Nigel Warrior listed as the starting safeties and Carlin fils-Aime listed as the backup running back behind starter John Kelly.
Dormady, a junior, and Guarantano, a redshirt freshman, are both expected to play at quarterback against the Yellow Jackets as Tennessee seeks to replace departed starter Josh Dobbs at the position.
Head coach Butch Jones said in a Wednesday news conference that left tackle Drew Richmond won’t make the trip to Atlanta due to “a violation of team rules.” Richmond is listed as the starting left tackle on the depth chart.
Jones said sophomore Marcus Tatum will start in Richmond’s place.
