The Dalton Police Department has arrested Donte Elijah Jackson, 20, on charges related to a Monday night shooting that left a man with gunshot wounds to his face and shoulder.
Investigators say two teenagers went to an apartment on Wrinkle Street around 5 p.m. to sell marijuana to Jackson and 18-year-old James Walton, according to a news release.
Jackson and Walton intended to rob the pair and Jackson showed a handgun, leading to a fight between the teenagers. They fought over the gun which went off and the bullet shot through Walton’s face, lodging in his shoulder.
Walton is in stable condition in a Chattanooga hospital and the case is still being investigated by Dalton Police.
Jackson has been charged with two counts each of armed robbery, aggravated assault and false imprisonment along with one count each of tampering with evidence and aggravated battery. Further charges are possible.
