The Chamber Choir and Vocal Rhapsody Ensemble of Cleveland State Community College will present a Christmas concert of new and traditional songs Thursday, Dec. 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the George R. Johnson Cultural Heritage Center on the Cleveland, Tenn., campus. This concert was postponed from Dec. 8 due to inclement weather.
The concert will include several styles of music from classic choral arrangements such as “Angels We Have Heard on High” to playful songs like “Text Me Merry Christmas” and “The 12 Days After Christmas.”
There will also be nonseasonal selections that both choral ensembles have studied over the course of the semester. Among them: “He Never Failed Me Yet,” “Lean on Me” and “The Boy From New York City.” There will also be a set in the performance dedicated to veterans that includes a patriotic medley and “The Boogie-Woogie Bugle Boy.”
Both choirs are under the direction of Karen Dale, associate professor of music.
“The students are excited about sharing their music with family, friends and the community,” says Dale. “The concert is free, and we hope that everyone will come and help us celebrate the conclusion of a successful semester of study.”
