Alternative facts of ‘pro-choice’

How convenient it is to play with words.

When a woman takes a pregnancy test and sees the right color, she excitedly declares to friends, family, co-workers, anyone who’ll listen, “I’m having a baby!” and we celebrate with her. We attend “reveal parties,” where soon-to-be parents declare whether “It’s a boy” or “It’s a girl” in the present tense. We don’t debate or argue with them. When a woman suffers the tragedy of a miscarriage, regardless of the stage of her pregnancy, we join in mourning the loss of her baby. If a pregnant woman dies as the result of a shooting or some other heinous crime, the perpetrator is likely to be charged – and rightfully so – with double homicide of both mother and baby.

However, if a woman has an unwanted pregnancy, she can choose to terminate it because it’s not a baby. It’s just “fetal tissue.”

People who support abortion are “pro-choice,” because being able to choose is good, right? But people who want to protect the lives of unborn children are “anti-abortion” (not pro-life), and it’s bad to be “anti” stuff, isn’t it?
