The Starr Mountain Quilts of Valor Quilters of Englewood, Tenn., will host their fifth annual Sew Day on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the McMinn County Living Heritage Museum, 522 W. Madison Ave. in Athens, Tenn.
Starting at 9 a.m., members will spend the day working on quilting projects, ending with a presentation at 3 p.m.
The effort is part of a national movement by the Quilts of Valor Foundation, whose goal is to cover all veterans and active-duty service personnel touched by war with a “comforting and healing” quilt.
More than 151,000 quilts have been awarded since the organization began in 2003, including more than 250 by the Starr Mountain quilters.
Spectators are welcome, as are participants, without regard to age, gender or quilting expertise.
Participants should bring a sack lunch, sewing machine and/or basic sewing supplies.
Door prizes will be awarded to registered participants.
To register, call Beth Sizemore at 423-829-5331 or email tenfolks@gmail.com.
