‘Small prices’ lead to flawed republic
Our country is founded on ideals, and one of those is the Blackstone formulation or ratio: “It is better that 10 guilty persons escape than one innocent suffer.” This itself hearkens to the Old Testament. Perhaps, Kellyanne Conway, President Trump’s spokeswoman, needs to be reminded of this. Those “small prices” that she suggests are what can lead to an erosion of our rights and our republic.
I also await the time that Clint Cooper, in his Free Press editorials, realizes that President Trump is not a Republican and begins to hold him and his minions accountable for their words and deeds. As my mama used to say, “you can put lipstick and a mink coat on it, but it’s still swine.”
