A pair of sisters who were volunteers with the Sequatchie County Fair in Dunlap, Tenn., have been charged on indictments with stealing funds from the organization.
Karen Lynn Marshall, 61, and Pamela Mason Smith, 59, both of Dunlap, each were charged last Friday on original indictments with theft of property valued at $1,000 to $10,000, 12th Judicial District Assistant District Attorney Steve Strain said on Thursday.
The charges stem from a Tennessee Comptroller’s Office audit and investigation of the Sequatchie County Fair organization. The probe was completed in late fall 2016. The Comptroller’s Office has not yet issued a report on its findings, said Strain, who presented the case to the Sequatchie County grand jury.
Strain said the indictments were handed down last Friday.
According to the indictments, Smith is charged with thefts taking place between June 2012 and December 2014, while Marshall is charged with thefts taking place between March 2012 and March 2014.
