Firefighters spent the day battling a brush fire on the side of Signal Mountain at Edwards Point on Saturday.
Shannon Gann, a spokeswoman for the Tennessee Forestry Division, said about 15 responders were on scene starting at 9:30 a.m. and will be back on Sunday.
The difficult terrain has hindered attempts to cut fire breaks around the flames which forestry officials estimate have spread to 20 acres.
“That’s the problem, it’s on the side of the mountain,” Gann said. ” It’s gonna be a little while to get it under control.”
No structures were endangered by the fire as of Saturday afternoon.
