Dennis Haskins continues to be a big man on campus. Best known for his role as Mr. Belding on “Saved by the Bell,” Haskins was recently named to the University of Tennessee Alumnus Magazine’s 100 Distinguished Alumni list.

Haskins attended UT-Knoxville for a bit before transferring to UTC, which is where he caught the acting bug. He left school a few hours shy of graduating to pursue acting but was given his degree in 2015.

Haskins remained loyal to the Mocs over the years. When “SBTB” ended, the final episode had Mr. Belding leaving Bayside High to become dean of students of UTC. In 2000, the school presented him with a Distinguished Alumnus Award, and last year he donated his scripts from the show to a permanent exhibit in the new UTC library.

Several other Chattanoogans made the UT Alumnus Top 100 list, including John Thornton, Tom Griscom, Dorothy Hackett Ward, Bob Corker and Irvine Grote.

My name was somehow left off.
