Kyra DubleCovenant College and Chattanooga Christian School have had a long though unofficial relationship, and that continues with the decisions of two CCS student-athletes to climb Lookout Mountain in continuing their careers.
For Kyra Duble it’s a family connection as well. She’ll be playing soccer for her uncle, Mark Duble, for whom her mother played. Kyra’s father as well as her uncle played for Covenant as well.
The other CCS-to-Covenant athlete honored at a commitment celebration Wednesday is Ben Moore for basketball, although he also played football and will compete in soccer and track for the Chargers this spring.
Justin Wheeler Also, CCS’s Justin Wheeler signed a scholarship to play running back for the Bethel College football team. He’s also a wrestler and baseball player but said football is his “passion.”
The versatile 5-foot-7, 170-pounder has played defensive back, outside linebacker, wide receiver and all three running back spots for CCS, “and his biggest asset is his competitiveness,” coach Mark Mariakis said.
