UPDATE: A suspect was fatally shot by Hamilton County deputies after a vehicle pursuit ended Tuesday night at the 200 block of Sequoyah-Access Road in Soddy-Daisy. At the request of 11th District Attorney Neal Pinkston, TBI agents were called in to investigate the circumstances surrounding the officer-involved shooting, according to the Tennessee Bureau of investigation.

Preliminary information indicates that about 5 p.m., Christopher Dalton Sexton, 29, was seen in violation of an order of protection. A Hamilton County deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but Sexton continued on, and engaged the deputy in a pursuit. That pursuit was ultimately terminated because of safety concerns.

Law enforcement officers later re-established contact with Sexton, and another pursuit began, involving officers with different agencies. That pursuit continued through parts of Hamilton County, into Sequatchie County, and back into Hamilton County, according to the TBI report.

About 7 p.m., in an attempt to minimize the risk to the public, Sexton's vehicle was forced off the roadway by a deputy as the pursuit turned onto Sequoyah Road. Sexton exited his vehicle, brandishing a weapon and pointing it at officers. Several Hamilton County deputies fired at Sexton, striking and killing him at the scene.

Officers from Red Bank and Soddy Daisy were present at the scene, but were not involved in the shooting incident. No law enforcement officers were injured.

TBI agents are working to gather evidence and conduct interviews and investigative findings will be shared with the district attorney general.
