Three Ellisville, Ala., men were arrested Thursday on federal indictments and state warrants charging them in connection with a joint investigation by the Cherokee County (Ala.) Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Sheriff Jeff Shaver said in a statement released Friday that the arrests were the result of a “lengthy” probe.
Shaver two of the suspects, Terry W. Wright, 49, and Eric D. Lewis, 50, were taken into custody at a home on County Road 14.
Meanwhile the third suspect, Clifford A. Wright, 33, was arrested just inside Floyd County, Ala.
Terry and Clifford Wright were each charged on federal grand jury indictments with being a felon in possession of a firearm. They were arrested in 2016 on drug charges, which are still pending in court, Shaver said.
Lewis was arrested on several warrants related to violation of probation orders and taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center, Shaver said.
