Signal Mountain Nursery has begun a series of Saturday classes that will help gardeners fill at least eight of the 53 days left until spring – if you’re counting down to that distant equinox.
This week’s class will focus on creating a woodland wreath using nature-inspired materials. Nursery manager Mark Bonastia says the workshop builds upon a grapevine vase using materials collected from the nursery and grounds.
“These may include lichen, bark, twigs, seed heads and pine cones, acorns, etc.,” he says. “You will learn how to combine these materials and have fun making something natural.”
Cost is $50, and all materials are provided for this take-home creation.
The workshop starts at 10 a.m. and will last about an hour. Most of the other upcoming workshops are on the same schedule, except Feb. 18, which has morning and afternoon events. Costs vary.
Signal Mountain Nursery is at 1100 Hubbard Road. For more information, call 423-886-3174 or visit www.signalmtnnursery.com.
