Community kitchen
I wholeheartedly agree with the letter in Sunday’s paper about supporting local charities, but I was disappointed that the Community Kitchen was not mentioned. As a longtime board member and volunteer, I have seen a tremendous growth in services and case managers to implement these programs for the benefit of the homeless.
As a result, the number of homeless individuals served has increased steadily at the kitchen. The number of clients who have been able to improve themselves and enter a normal life again has also increased. Some have been able to acquire a Habitat for Humanity house.
The Community Kitchen is not standing still. They are exploring future areas to benefit the homeless.
