For many Southside residents, it would be difficult to remember a time before FEED Co. Table & Tavern. With its modern yet accessible menu and its lively, Main Street-facing patio — now featuring special shading plants and misting fans to keep patrons cool — FEED Co. has become a neighborhood fixture.
So, for many of the restaurant’s fans, it is surprising that next month marks only its third anniversary. And to celebrate, FEED Co. is honoring tradition.
Every year, beginning with its grand opening and continuing with each anniversary, FEED Co. has celebrated by hosting fundraising events for Tennessee River Gorge Trust, a local land trust dedicated to preserving the river gorge. The organization has typically set up a table at the restaurant the day of the event — also featuring bluegrass bands and general revelry — to share its mission and recruit volunteers, and FEED Co. has donated 10 percent of its total proceeds from the day to Tennessee River Gorge Trust.
This year’s event, scheduled for Aug. 4 from 6-9 p.m., will be no different, aside from one huge addition: the debut of FEED Co.’s highly anticipated private event space. Guests will be invited to check out the on-site space, which upon completion will boast a private entrance, bar, separate menu and patio, as well as an audio system and three 70-inch smart TVs.
The space will feature exposed brick and ductwork, complementing FEED Co.’s industrial-chic ambiance and creating, as co-owner Miguel Morales describes it, “a rustic, rich feel.” Heart pine and maple repurposed from the building’s original structure were used to craft the bar and the long, family-style tables.
“It is so much more beautiful than I even thought,” Miguel said of the space, which is soon to become another Scenic City staple locals won’t be able to imagine living without.
