The city of Chattanooga is cutting the cost of wood chips it sells for landscaping.
City spokeswoman Marissa Bell said the city has so much chip material amassed it needs to reduce the pile to lower the risk of fire.
To help clear the oversupply, the Public Works Department is selling chips for $4 a ton at the Wood Recycle Center, 3925 N. Hawthorne St. Hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
