Tennessee’s Christian Coleman wins two national championships Friday night

Tennessee sprinter Christian Coleman won a pair of national titles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Friday night.

The junior won the 100 and 200-meter titles at the University of Oregon to complete a double-double sweep of indoor and outdoor national championship sprints in 2017.

The junior ran a 10.04 on a wet track with windy and cool weather, outlasting Houston’s Cameron Burrell by 0.08 seconds in the 100-meter. He followed it up less than an hour later with a 20.25 in the 200-meter.

Coleman set the collegiate 100-meter record in Wednesday’s semifinals when he ran a 9.82.

The Atlanta native entered this week’s NCAA Outdoor Championships as a three-time indoor national champion, having won the 60-meter crowns in 2016 and 2017 and the 200-meter crown in 2017.
