Dinosaurs may be extinct, but there have been a lot of sightings in Chattanooga lately.

For the second consecutive week, an animatronic dinosaur exhibit is coming to the Scenic City. “Jurassic Quest: Out of Extinction” takes over the Chattanooga Convention Center, 1150 Carter St., on Friday-Sunday, June 16-18.

Jurassic Quest is a dinosaur adventure the whole family can enjoy. The main walk-through dinosaur exhibit features realistic scenes filled with life-size animatronic dinosaurs. Visitors can interact with these huge creatures, learn about them and even ride a few. In all, there are more than 80 life-size dinosaurs.

The baby dinos are playful little guys that trainers bring out for 30 minutes at a time. Look for them on the exhibit hall floor at 10 a.m., noon, 2, 4 and 6 p.m.

Several adolescent dinos wander around the hall or in a large walking pen. These big guys are playful and love attention, says their handlers. Visitors may pet them, take photos and just have a great time with them.

The walkers are let out to play several times a day for about 30 minutes each visit. Look for their walks at 10:30 a.m., 12:30, 2:30, 4:30 and 6:30 p.m.

There are T-Rex and Triceratops fossil digs where young paleontologists can uncover long-hidden dinosaur bones, the Dino Bounce area with several towering dinosaur-themed inflatable mazes, face-painting and Dino crafts.

There are dinos for children to ride that require children climb four stairs to get on top of them, then the ride gently moves. The rides are for children ages 3-12, or less than 140 pounds. Younger children will have access to a few rides/inflatables designated specifically for them.

Parents should note there are two children’s ticket prices: $15 or $24.

The $15 ticket includes the dinosaur exhibit, dino tour, Dino Theater, science stations, craft and coloring station. Other activities such as the rides, fossil digs, inflatables and bungee pull are an extra $5 each.

With the $24 kids VIP ticket, the ticketholder receives all of the above as well as unlimited dino rides, fossil digs, dino scooters, inflatables and bungee pull.

There are additional premium attractions that are optional. Green-screen photography is $10 for a 4-by-6-inch photo, $20 for a 6-by-8. Face painting is $5 for a small design, $10 for large.

Visitors may leave and return on the same day by having their hands stamped before exiting the exhibit.
