An investigation is under way after a body was found in a North Alabama farm field Tuesday, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
A news release from Sheriff Jimmy Harris said a farmer saw a vehicle in the field off County Road 820 in the Grove Oak community and called the sheriff’s office. Deputies arrived to find a body lying next to the vehicle.
The body has not yet been positively identified, the release stated. The sheriff’s office provided no information on the age, sex or race of the deceased or whether there was an obvious cause of death.
The body was sent to the Department of Forensics Science in Montgomery for an autopsy.
Jacksonville State University Center for Applied Forensics helped the investigation by processing the scene.
