Explore the world of Chattanooga artist Wayne White - populated with larger-than-life puppets, vivid paintings and sculptures - when "Thrill After Thrill: 30 Years of Wayne White" opens in Hunter Museum of American Art, 10 Bluff View, on Friday, June 30.

A preview and reception for museum members will be held tonight, June 29, from 6 to 8 p.m.

White's work on "Pee-wee's Playhouse" earned him three Emmy Awards, and he won a Billboard award for best art direction on Peter Gabriel's "Big Time" music video. Chattanoogans may be familiar with his work that fills Wayne-O-Rama, the art fun house on 1800 Rossville Ave.

Although White is characterized by his playful, satirical take on the art world, his paintings and sculptures also reflect nostalgia for his Southern roots.
