Grohn has right qualities for mayor
If you saw the documentary movie “Hillary’s America,” you will know cities with Democratic mayors like Baltimore and Chicago have higher crime rates, more gang problems, indigenous poor and failing schools than those led by Republicans.
The entrenched mayoral candidates make big promises in the months just before the elections then achieve little after them. Have you noticed the many reports crediting accomplishments by Andy Berke have appeared in the TFP and on TV since last October compared to the previous three years, whether they were actually his achievements or not?
Larry Grohn, a Republican, has attended almost every City Council meeting working uphill to make Chattanooga a great city. Larry is scandal free, being a religious man of good ethical standards.
He has great ideas of how to make our city more financially efficient and its systems more effective by combining committees and departments, improving communication, and not by throwing money and people at problems.
If you usually don’t bother to vote in our spring elections, please consider making an effort this month. It could make a real difference and save you money.

Anderson deserves another council term
Shortly after I became the president of East Lake Neighborhood Association two years ago, I was surprised to receive a phone call from City Councilman Chris Anderson. He began by stating that our neighborhood had been overlooked for 30 years and that he was going to change that but needed our help.
Since that day, East Lake and other neighborhoods within Councilman Anderson’s district have seen a flurry of city improvements – improvements that active members of the community knew were coming. Why? Because Chris attends our neighborhood association meetings and gives us updates on what’s happening.
Twice, he asked for six streets to be repaved and they were done. East Lake Park’s first major renovation in 30 years begins this spring, and the neighborhood association has a lease for both the concession stand and Senior Center that will allow us to have spaces for community partners to hold ESL classes, summer camps for our kids, GED classes, and concessions for our movie nights and Everyone East Lake Festival.
I am not speaking for the neighborhood association as a whole, but personally, I am proud to be a Chris Anderson supporter.

Roberson’s legacy to city spans decades
We enjoyed the Local History article on Zion Institute/College in the Perspective section of the Sunday TFP.
It acknowledged one of the many but least remembered contributions to Chattanooga of Dr. Lee Roberson, pastor of Highland Park Baptist Church. Dr. Roberson had a broad vision to help people of all walks of life.
In the early years of Zion, many of the faculty members were the faculty of Tennessee Temple College, also founded by Dr. Roberson, a year before the founding of Zion. When we were students at Tennessee Temple in the early 1960s, some faculty members still taught classes at Zion, and Dr. Roberson often mentioned Dr. Horace Traylor, then president of Zion College.
During that period of Chattanooga history, from the 1940s through the 1980s, the spiritual, academic, social and cultural contributions of Christian leaders, such as Dr. Roberson, Dr. Ben Haden, Dr. Ralph Mohney, some of the McCallie family and many others, are beyond comparison to anything since that time period.
