“Rent,” the Pulitzer Prize-winning rock musical composer Jonathan Larson loosely based on Puccini’s opera “La Boheme,” plays its final night tonight, March 9, at the Tivoli Theatre, 709 Broad St.
Written in the early 1990s, the musical uses the HIV/AIDS epidemic, rather than the tuberculosis of Puccini’s time, as the health scare that affects the lives of the central characters, seven young artists living in New York City’s East Village.
This 20th anniversary tour is presented as part of the Broadway at the Tivoli series. Curtain is at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $37, $52, $67 and $77, plus fees.
