Wants better from appraiser’s office
If you’re one of hundreds who have seen your property values raised 500 to 1,000 percent, you are already aware as previous letters have stated, when you call the assessor’s office to discuss the huge increases you will be treated with disrespect and receive an ambiguous “that’s just the way it is” if you are given the courtesy of a return call. I have called numerous times and didn’t get a return. I have left a voice-mail for Marty Haynes and haven’t heard a word.
I feel the office lacks leadership and seems to forget we pay their salaries. They work for us, the taxpaying citizens of Hamilton County, and we deserve to be heard.
We should demand these increases and the office be investigated to be sure they are following the statutes of reappraisal law as mandated by the state of Tennessee.
This is Chattanooga (Hamilton County), not Nashville or Rutherford County, where the only MAI appraiser in this office is from. Marty Haynes is great at getting publicity in touting his many achievements. It would be great to see him do work and exhibit leadership in his important office!
