Kentucky folk guitarist and singer-songwriter Joan Shelley is the next featured artist in the Black Box Concert Series presented by the Athens Area Council for the Arts. She’ll perform Friday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Sue Trotter Theater, 320 N. White St., Athens, Tenn.
Shelley’s music mixes the sound of down-to-earth Appalachian folk with the feeling of a soothing conversation with a friend. Her warm, inviting voice paired with intricately played guitar is a refreshing retreat to the essentials of acoustic music.
Tickets are $15 in advance, or $20 at the door, and $10 for students.
