A pedestrian was sent Wednesday evening to a Chattanooga-area hospital in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Lee Highway and Customer Delight Drive.
Around 7 p.m., Patricia Oberst, 61, was traveling south on Lee Highway in the left lane approaching Customer Delight Drive when the pedestrian was crossing Lee Highway from the east side to the west side of the road, according to a news release. The pedestrian was not using a crosswalk.
Oberst remained at the scene after the collision and the pedestrian, who will not be identified until family can be notified, was transported to the hospital with ‘life-threatening injuries,” the release states.
Chattanooga Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating the incident.
