A Chattanooga man has been charged with rape after an alleged incident Friday night at a home on East 16th Street.

The victim said she went to the home where her boyfriend lives with several roommates and fell asleep next to him and an unknown man, according to court documents.

During the night, she woke up, moved to an unoccupied room and fell asleep. In the middle of the night, she said she was awakened by a choking sensation and realized an unknown man was sitting on her chest.

She said he raped her while covering her mouth with his hand.

After a few minutes, the victim was able to free her mouth and began screaming, causing the assailant to flee to a different room and waking her boyfriend.

The victim then drove home and later spoke to her mother about the incident. They then notified police and the victim was checked for a sexual assault.

All of the inhabitants in the home were detained and police determined William Castillo-Matias, 23, was the primary suspect after the victim positively identified him.
