Boyd-Buchanan's girls are in second place after one day of play in the Division II-A state golf tournament at WillowBrook in Manchester, and Baylor's girls are tied for second in Division II-AA. GPS is in fourth in the larger class and McCallie is fifth in the boys' tournament.

Rain is in the forecast today in Manchester, but the final day of play is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. EDT.

The Lady Red Raiders are tied with St. Agnes at 155, three shots behind Ensworth. Baylor eighth-grader Kyndall Shamblin's is tied for third individually at 76, and freshman Kelsey Hodge is tied for eighth at 79.

"They really played well," Baylor coach Gary Partrick said. "We're in striking distance. A 155 is one of our better rounds of the year, and they did it on that stage."

Boyd-Buchanan is 13 in back of leader Franklin Road Academy's 150. The Lady Buccaneers' scores were a 78 from Lydia Campbell (fourth) and an 85 from fellow junior Zacori Hill. However, Boyd-Buchanan coach Ed Connelly said Hill aggravated a wrist injury that caused her to withdraw from the district tournament.

"She's going to try to tough it out," Connelly said. "It's going to be hard."

GPS seniors McKenzie Frizzell, who had been sick and wasn't sure she'd be able to play until Monday, and Hannah Prescott shot 78 and 84. They are seventh and 14th.

McCallie, which trails leader Brentwood Academy (292) by 10 strokes, was led by junior Jacob Levine's 72 (tied for sixth) and classmate Jake Allstun's 76 (tied for 19th). The other counting scores were 77s by senior Griffin McCloy and sophomore Jack Billups, who are tied for 22nd.

"We kind of started out slow," said McCallie coach Rob Riddle, noting his boys started on No. 10 and that the back nine is the tougher side. "We just made a few too many mistakes to shoot a really good number. Everybody played fine. We just couldn't get that many putts to fall."

Baylor eighth-grader Sheldon McKnight is playing as a boys' individual and is tied for 15th at 75.
