Ethics violators need punishing
David Apol, head of the U.S. Office of Government Ethics, is “deeply concerned that the actions of some in government leadership have harmed perceptions about the importance of ethics.”
I hope he looks into these issues: defamatory remarks against citizens and fellow employees; spreading fake news; playing golf during working hours; earning private income while on the government payroll; racist remarks; nepotism; lying; violations of federal open records laws; undermining other employees.
Any federal employee violating any of these issues should be dealt with immediately.

Conversation on cleanliness needed
As a new resident of downtown Chattanooga, I’m amazed and saddened by how trashy it is down here.
Don’t get me wrong – I do love living in the city. Walking everywhere, riding bikes, no yard to keep. Or is there?
If you take a walk any morning of the week, you’ll see papers, cups and much more thrown freely on the sidewalks of every block. And add to that the cigarette butts and dog poop – you’ve got a trashy city!
Who is responsible? The shop owners? The apartment building owners? The city? You? Me?
A bit of pressure-washing would help the sidewalks too. Should each block rent a pressure washer and share the duties? What exactly is the city’s responsibility on cleanliness?
Let’s have a conversation.

Pro kneelers need battle inspiration
I have an idea that might make the kneelers think about their actions.
Just before the playing of the national anthem, show some flashes of actual battle scenes from World War I up through today’s wars.
Just to let them know why they are able to be millionaires.

Who’ll help the health care-less?
The president is supposed to care about the people. He cares more about stopping Obamacare at any cost.
What about the people who are not going to have insurance, not going to be able to get their medicine, not go see their doctor when they need to?
Not everyone was born with a silver spoon in their mouth. They need some help.

Where is outrage over Weinstein?
OK, you liberal, fake news Times Free Press, where is your outrage over what your liberal friends have done, such as Harvey Weinstein, big-mouth Jimmy Kimmel asking a young lady (on video from the 1999-2004 “The Man Show”) to put her hands into his pants and see what she finds, the Clinton Foundation’s acceptance of millions of dollars from sharia law countries, Hollywood’s “casting couch” director Roman Polanski raping a 13-year-old girl? This is just the beginning of a great Hollywood fall!
Please, all of you left-wing, liberal editors, let’s hear your protest and outrage. Maybe you all can take a knee in protest; after all, those are your liberal thugs kneeling on the NFL sidelines.
Like the Good Book says, “All the goats on the left and the sheep on the right.”
