‘CCM Sunday’ signing off at end of month
Staff ReportChristian music program “CCM Sunday,” which went on the air 24 years ago on June 20, 1993, will air its final show on Sunday, Oct. 29.Produced by DMI Concerts (Dove Ministries Inc.), “CCM Sunday” originated as an all-day program hosted by Roy McCollum, Bobby Daniels, James Howard, Jason McKay, Rhonda Miskowski and Matt Stockman.“It was the radio arm of our concert ministry,” says Alan Knowles, president of DMI concerts. The show began with a simple mission: to create an on-air home for contemporary Christian music in the Chattanooga area and to build God’s kingdom. In April 1998, “CCM Sunday” began its 20-year run on WDEF-FM Sunny 92.3, with Bobby Daniels as host.“Bobby quickly became part of the family here on South Broad Street,” says Danny Howard, station manager/director of programming for WDEF Radio. “Through the years, Bobby Daniels has been employed by Sunny 92.3 handling on-air and behind-the-scenes duties and will continue to be a part of our group of talented personalities.”“CCM Sunday” will air its last broadcast from 6 to 10 a.m. Oct. 29 with Daniels and former hosts saying their goodbyes.“It’s mission accomplished,” says Daniels. “Today in this market, there are at least six outlets for this style of music, and his kingdom footprint is larger now that it has ever been.”Listeners are invited to call 423-451-6760 or email a greeting to bdaniels@wdefradio.com.
