Choose Cate White for Circuit Court seat
We have known the Forrest Cate Jr. family for many years. Over those years we have seen their children grow up as Christians helping others in need along the way. Today Catherine “Cate” White is following advice from her father to serve our community and help families in difficult conditions.
As an attorney, she has 29 years of family law to meet that need as an elected Circuit Court judge. Please vote for Catherine “Cate” White for our next Circuit Court judge on May 1.

City/town residents already ‘share’ costs
In the April 17 “Protecting Schools” article, Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond said he would like to see shared responsibility and shared costs among the county, the school district and surrounding municipalities.
Perhaps the sheriff is unaware that every property owner in Hamilton County pays county taxes on the same basis, whether their property is in incorporated or unincorporated locations. That means that those whose property is in incorporated cities have already paid their share of the cost of running the county.
For the county to ask those surrounding municipalities to contribute additional funds (which they have collected from their taxpayers) is a bad example of double-dipping on the part of the county.
As a former resident of the city of Chattanooga (who still owns property in the city) I find this suggestion to be unacceptable.
I respectfully request that the county fund the county’s responsibilities from county funds and stop asking those of us who have property that is both in the county and in incorporated areas to pay twice for those services the county provides.

Gravitt has the heart for public service
I tell people that I’ve known Marc Gravitt, “since he was just a pup.”
During my many years as CFO and executive vice president of what used to be Union Planters National Bank (now Regions Bank), I worked with Marc on many projects. Most recently, serving for many years as the former CEO and president of the Associated General Contractors of East Tennessee here in Chattanooga, I worked with Marc again while he served in Nashville.
For four years Marc has served in the Tennessee House of Representatives on the Local Government Committee and the Business and Utilities committees. Those are the two committees I worked with closely on legislation that affected all areas of construction.
Because of Marc’s more than 20 years as a real estate broker, he understands the challenges facing today’s real estate professionals. I can say this because I have seen it personally, Marc has a heart for public service and will continue to serve Hamilton County well as the Register of Deeds.
Please vote for my friend and yours, Marc Gravitt.

Hedrick will be fair, impartial on bench
I have known Kyle Headrick for about 30 years. He practiced in front of me when I was on the bench. Kyle was a very capable attorney with a wide variety of legal experience. He is a person with the utmost integrity and will be fair and considerate to all who appear before him.
Kyle has already demonstrated his ability to serve this community. He has an excellent judicial temperament and is courteous to all with whom he has contact.
I strongly urge your support and vote for Kyle Headrick as Circuit Court judge, Division IV.
