Scenic City soon will have new attraction

During my long life, I have seen the White Cliffs of Dover. Now I have seen the “Concrete Cliffs of Cameron Hill and Stringers Ridge.” Life just cannot get any better.

This future tourist attraction will be known as “The Hanging Gardens of Kudzu.” What a story to tell the world.

Voters would be wise to choose Hedrick as judge

I am fortunate to have Kyle Hedrick as a close friend. Hamilton County is now fortunate to have him as Circuit Court Judge as appointed by Gov. Bill Haslam.

Kyle was my youth minister during my middle school and high school years. He was an incredible and influential mentor who taught lessons from the Bible and living his life by those same standards. He was wise, knowledgeable and discerning when answering the hard questions that teens have. Into college and beyond, I have several times come to Kyle for advice on hard life situations because I can always count on him to give sound guidance.

My husband and I chose Kyle Hedrick as our wedding officiant because we wanted a man of integrity and someone who has exhibited a loving and supportive marriage to perform our ceremony. I valued the premarital counseling he gave us as we started our marriage. Kyle exhibits a successful marriage through both words and actions.

Gov. Haslam made the right choice in appointing Kyle Hedrick to the Circuit Court. Please join me Tuesday to keep Kyle Hedrick as Circuit Court Judge.

White impresses for Circuit Court judge

Who will be the choice for a judge? Candidates are promoted by their friends, hoping their choice will be the judge. They are expected to prove to be and more deserving for the position.

How do we know who is more deserving than the other? Often people are biased, they pick a person whom they have known a long time or work with and expect some favor from the candidate when elected.

I do not know either candidate very well nor expect any favor from them. However, I decided upon Catherine “Cate” White.

Both candidates are equally qualified for the job. Nevertheless, Catherine White seems more sincere to me, the way she presents herself. Her empathy for people seems genuine and honest. When she says her judgment has to be according to the written law, she demonstrates that innate ability and sensitivity that is required to mediate acceptance of the outcome by the opposing parties involved.

I believe she will judge not to condemn but to redeem people from under the wheel of justice. She will view justice with mercy. That’s the kind of judge we need in our courts!

Indiana student seeks info about Tennessee

I am writing for a class project on the novel, “The Watsons Go To Birmingham.” I, along with my classmates, am writing to newspapers in my chosen state to learn more about the community and lifestyles there. The state I chose for this assignment is Tennessee. I would like to visit and even possibly move to Tennessee someday. So, I would like to take this opportunity to learn more about the state and communities within.

I am writing this letter to ask for any readers to please write back to help me. I would like to know why you like living in Chattanooga, what life is like there, interesting facts about life in Chattanooga, and, possibly, what visitors can do there. Anybody willing to help can write to my school’s address below. It would be great if respondents could include a copy of the newspaper where they have seen my letter.

Thank you.
