Meadow Mountain started as a group of friends busking on a corner of the Vail, Colorado, farmers market, bonding over a love of traditional and progressive bluegrass music.
The first summer of the band’s existence, they learned as much bluegrass music as they could, digging into bands like The Punch Brothers and Bela Fleck’s Drive band. Just a year after the band formed, they were hired to be the house band aboard The Norwegian Dawn cruise ship.
The band spent that month aboard ship tightening their sound. Since then, the quintet has become one of the premier voices in Colorado bluegrass music.
Miller Plaza will ring with the traditional bluegrass sounds of Meadow Mountain on Friday, Aug. 17, when the band headlines Nightfall. Caney Creek Company will open the free show at 7 p.m.
Meadow Mountain has given a TED talk, won the 2017 Rockygrass band competition and the 2017 Ullrgrass band contest and placed third in the 2017 Telluride bluegrass competition. The Denver band has opened for The Del McCoury Band and The Infamous Stringdusters.
After a successful Kickstarter campaign, they recorded their debut record at Mighty Fine Productions with Chris Pandolfi (Infamous Stringdusters) as producer. It is expected out in October.
