The Chattanooga Lookouts used a quick start Monday night in Montgomery, Alabama, to win for just the second time in nine games, 6-2.
A Luke Raley home run to right-center field with one out in the first inning put the Lookouts up 1-0, and they added three runs in the second with a Luis Arraez walk, a Jordan Gore double to left and a Jimmy Kerrigan homer to right-center.
Brian Navarreto singled in Jaylin Davis in both the third and fifth innings for Chattanooga, which improved to 22-33 in the Southern League’s second half and to 58-66 overall. Navarreto was 3-for-4, Davis 2-for-4 and Raley 2-for-5, and Tyler Wells was the winning pitcher, allowing seven hits and two runs in five innings.
Game three of the five-game series at Montgomery is tonight at 7:35 EDT. Omar Bencomo was scheduled to start on the mound but was placed on the disabled list Monday with a bruised foot, so the Lookouts will make a game-day decision. Blake Bivens (0-1, 6.75) is scheduled to start for the Biscuits.
