Authorities say they are still working to identify the woman shot by law enforcement officials after a high-speed chase Wednesday in Dalton, Georgia.

The woman, who was airlifted from the scene, remains hospitalized in serious condition at a local hospital, Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Nelly Miles said Thursday.

The male suspect was identified as 56-year-old Parrish Smaey, of Jonesboro, Georgia. He was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital and released into custody.

He now faces a slew of charges in Whitfield County, including driving under the influence, fleeing police and possession of a stolen vehicle. He also faces charges in Cleveland, Tennessee, police spokeswoman Sgt, Evie West said, including shoplifting, aggravated assault, aggravated robbery and posession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

When the woman is identified, she will be charged with shoplifting and aggravated assault, West said.
