Climate report deserves scrutiny
As soon as some official-sounding body makes alarmist predictions on climate change, one can be sure that the liberal media, especially our local Chattanooga Times, will hype the results. A prime example is the recently issued National Climate Assessment written by a group of Obama holdovers in the government and reviewed by The Times last Sunday. A few of the comments on the report by recognized climate experts – “systematically flawed,” “embarrassing,” “a political report masquerading as science” – might have given them pause but no, as I assume it fits their agenda of increased government control.
All of the dire predictions in the report are based on computer models which have consistently failed to predict global temperatures. There is no question the climate is changing – it always has – or that carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas, but its impact has been greatly exaggerated. It is worth noting that NASA reported global temperatures dropped by 1 degree F from Feb. 16 to Feb. 18, and that Arctic sea ice volume is 30 percent greater than it was a decade ago.
