A substitute teacher has been arrested on aggravated assault charges after he allegedly strangled a student last month.
Stephen Snyder, 65, is accused of picking a 10-year-old student up by the neck and holding him off the ground for five to 10 seconds, according to court documents.
The student told police he and other students were cleaning their classroom when Snyder said “it looked like a pig sty in the room,” court records show.
The student replied, saying, “‘Well, yeah’ or something,” which he said upset Snyder and he single-handedly lifted him off the ground by the neck.
Several other students corroborated the boy’s account, and told police they saw his eyes roll to the back of his head as he was being choked and saw a red impression of Snyder’s hand around the student’s neck.
