Two men have been charged in what the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office says are multiple thefts and burglaries.

According to a news release, deputies pursued information from a Cleveland Police Department arrest on Jan. 29 to identify a suspect in the theft of a truck and trailer.

The Cleveland officers were investigating the attempted theft of a backhoe. At the scene, they found a Dodge Ram flatbed truck with an attached flatbed trailer that was used to load the backhoe, and they learned someone had run away before they arrived.

They learned the truck and trailer were stolen from the Blue Springs community in southeastern Bradley County and called in BCSO detectives.

Through evidence and video surveillance, detectives identified the theft suspect as Aaron Scott Patterson, who also was suspected in a separate attempted theft of a truck and equipment on Kile Lane.

Patterson, 25, of Cleveland, faces charges from the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office and Cleveland Police Department of two counts of attempted theft over $10,000; theft over $10,000; theft over $2,500; auto burglary; burglary, and felony vandalism.

The second case arose from a Jan. 31 traffic stop, according to the news release.

A deputy stopped the black Ford pickup and determined that a trailer and two motorcycles he was towing had been reported stolen two days earlier.

Nicholas Stroud, 33, of Cleveland, was charged with two counts of theft over $10,000 and one of burglary. He also was served with outstanding criminal warrants, the release stated.

Sheriff Eric Watson stated, “Criminals should be aware that local law-enforcement is dedicated to solving criminal acts that deprive residents in this community. Through joint-investigation by Cleveland Police Department and Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, numerous thefts and burglaries have been solved which have resulted in the recovery of thousands of dollars of residents’ stolen property.”
