BARRY COURTER: Lisa, the weekly calendar is once again loaded with live music opportunities, and Songbirds looks to be an especially busy place, especially now that management there is booking shows in the museum space as well as downstairs in what used to be the Revelry Room. There are so many, I won’t try to list them all, but among them are Hal Ketchum, TR3 featuring Tim Reynolds and Pylon Reenactment Society.
Folks around our age will remember pogoing to Pylon back in our college days. They were part of the whole Athens, Ga., scene with bands like REM and the B-52s.
LISA DENTON: I’m just excited that the Pylons have “world-renowned pianist Damon Denton” playing with them. I count him among the famous Dentons who’ve made names for themselves, along with rapper Sandra Denton, aka Pepa of Salt-n-Pepa, and actor James Denton from “Desperate Housewives.” I’m from the line of infamous Dentons, but we don’t have to get into the whys and what-fors here. Let’s just say that when I mention a certain ancestor in Rhea County, the old-timers up there know all the stories.
BARRY: Do you get the chicken cluck when you mention them or the less hurtful “Bless your heart”?
LISA: Depends on the old-timer.
