Officials: Please open vital connector road

Twenty years ago, the people of Hamilton County were promised a roadway through the Volunteer Army Ammunition (TNT) complex. Most of this road was finished over two years – all except a small strip on the Ooltewah end at the VW plant.

The great people of Hamilton County are so very happy that VW has moved to our community, but we are also dismayed at the promises the politicians have made about this new roadway just sitting there and we can’t use it.

For nearly 100 years, this area has been off limits to us. I think it’s time our politicians back up their promises to open this road, with or without VW approval. We’re still driving around.

Next time I vote, I am going to remember the roadway that can’t be opened.

The left has a long election year ahead

What a wonderful year we’ve had with President Donald Trump! It gives me great pleasure to watch the grief of left-wing haters:

» Shock and denial: watching the crying spells of those over-pampered college kids.

» Pain and guilt: Hillary Rodham Clinton’s post-election book tour “What Happened?” was beautiful to behold.

» Anger and bargaining: “Hillary Clinton got more votes!” A million thanks to our nation’s founders for the Electoral College.

» Depression, reflection, loneliness: How low can you sink with Sanders, Warren and Cuomo?

» The upward turn: winning special elections in solid blue states during Christmas season and/or one takeaway by accusation (Moore). November 2018 won’t be so easy!

» Reconstruction and working through: Anarchy, antifa and “I hate Trump” rallies won’t work in November 2018

» Acceptance and hope: Dissing the first, haters are left with just the latter. Problem: What are the haters for? Hating Trump will not be enough. You have to have a program a majority of voters want.

Happy New Year!

America forgets greatest gift is love

Trump’s trash mouth! Oh man, where do I start?

He could probably see the Statue of Liberty from the windows of his ivory Trump Towers. So would someone please take Donald to it and let him read the inscription on it?

“Give me your poor. Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. The wretched refuse from your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, the tempest-tossed to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”

Don’t these words still ring true ?

Were we not a country founded by immigrants from other tempest-tossed shores? Not every American or immigrant had a million dollars to start out their life. I do think the ones who do come should do it legally and be ready to apply for citizenship or be sent back home.

We need to remember 1 Corinthians 13:13: “For there are these three things that endure: faith, hope, and love but the greatest of these is love.”

We are a blessed country but we see so much wanton disregard or lack of love for each other. Democrat vs Republican – we are all Americans. We need to act like it.
